NEWSLETTER FOR MAY 7, 2012
Our meeting was started on time and VP Mike introduced our sole guest, Jodi Simone. He reminded us that 5/15 is the District Assembly at Atlantic City Community College. So far, Mike, Peg and Dan B. are attending, but is open to all members as well. Steven reported on the NYC trip on Saturday. A good time was had by all with 154 people in attendance. Total receipts were $4979, minus bus fee ($4050), food and drink ($205), with a net profit of $724, of which $624 went to the food bank and $100 for the purchase of a cobblestone for Rotary at Ground Zero. GOOD JOB, STEVE!! HAPPY DOLLARS—Mary---$140 from the Kentucky Derby on the bus was donated to the food bank. Craig spoke about the yearly scholarships that we sponsor. $4800 is donated to awardees who are picked by the local schools. Winner’s names will be published in this bulletin in the near future. As of this meeting, George said 22 tickets are still available for S.F. Carole asked that prizes for the Chinese Auction be given to her ASAP, preferably by next Monday, 5/14. This includes your donations of bottles for the Wheelbarrow of Cheer as well. Remember, we do very well with the Chinese Auction, netting usually about $6—7000. A sheet of 20 tickets costs $20 and 3 sheets are $50. Carole said the seating arrangements are pretty much figured out. Dan B. asked that you contact all the people you sold tickets to and reiterate that the S.F. is NOT at Venice this year. The doors will open at 5:30, but 5:50 ‘til 6:40 is “Rush Hour” to sign people in. A sign-up sheet was passed around for the various stations at the Spring Fling.
